Visitor Experience: Explore & More was founded on the belief that every child deserves the right to play, laugh, and learn. The 43,000 sq. ft. museum features three floors of exhibits that showcase the history, innovation and wonder of Buffalo and Western New York. In addition to our wonderful exhibits, our studio spaces and other play areas throughout the museum allow children to engage in STEM activities, arts & crafts and other fun play experiences.
Building Description: Explore & More Children’s Museum was designed by Fontanese Folts Aubrecht Ernst Architects and built by LeChase Construction, opening its doors in 2019. The architecture draws inspiration from Buffalo’s historic Erie Canal terminal, aiming to blend the city’s heritage with modern design. A key feature of the building is a rooftop
terrace on the fourth floor with views of the canals and city. Two sides of the building border a man-made canal that functions as an outdoor skating rink in the winter and a shallow waterway for paddle boats in the summer.
