The Buffalo Religious Arts Center was founded in 2008 with the mission of preserving religious works of art from former houses of worship. Enjoy a guided tour of stained glass windows, statuary, oil and watercolor paintings and murals, many created by European immigrants of early 20th Century Buffalo. The Center collects art from all denominations and is one of the only galleries in the United States dedicated to the preservation of religious art.
Buffalo Religious Arts Center is housed in the former St. Francis Xavier Church, a Romanesque Revival Basilica built in 1913. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The tour is approximately one hour in length. This tour meets at the Buffalo Religious Arts Center, 157 East Street, Buffalo, NY, 14207. Parking is available in the lot next to the school building.
